SOIL AND ENVIRONMENT

Our vineyard, thanks to its exposure and to its very specific ground, profits by a microclimate
which gets for its wines typicity and recognized quality.

AN IDEAL EXPOSURE

Planted in edge of “le Massif des Maures” and protected from the storms by “les îles d’Or” - Porquerolles, Porcros,
le Levant - the vines are subjected to a maximum sunning combined with very weak precipitations.

A VERY SPECIFIC SOIL

The grounds “appellation AOC”, made up of schists on argillaceous basement, are stony and low in humus.
Not very fertile, they allow only a weak production the hectare. Ideal conditions for the various type of vines which there produce the most concentrated and aromatic wines.

The schists confer on “rosés” and white wines a great minerality and much of uprightness.
The “Domaine du Château Vert” produce great vintage “rosés” which, young,
give out exuberant flavours of grapefruit and tangerine, then day after day, as great vintage white wines,
will improve during several years thanks to a very good acidity.

This ideal soil also produces good keeping red wines. Generally very coloured,
these wines are very rich in tannins and require two to three years of breeding before being bottled.

HIGH-CLASS VINES AND VINTAGE WINES

Located on the most beautiful part of the schistous falls, the soil of “Domaine du Château Vert”
is planted with high-class vines.

Its old vines of Grenache allow each year the development of the vintage “rosé Bartavelles”.
This pale pink vintage combines power and large smoothness.

The very old vines of Syrah allow the development of the vintage red “Bartavelles”.
Maturing in oak barrels for 18 to 24 months, this good keeping wine can age several decades.
The other type of vines, Cinsaut, Carignan, Cabernet and Rolle carry all the mark of the soil
and develop very aromatic nectars.

Exceptional soil......, Exceptional wines!
